12 March, 2012

GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories  – Israeli warplanes pounded Gaza for a fourth day on Monday, killing six more Palestinians, as a teenager died in a mystery blast, raising the death toll so far to 25, and atleast another 100 injured.

The latest strike killed two Palestinians east of Gaza City, said spokesman for the Hamas-run emergency services, Adham Abu Selmiya. An earlier raid killed a man in his 60s and his daughter in the Jabaliya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, medics said. Several hours before that, a teenager was killed nearby, in what the Palestinians claimed was a drone strike.

Palestinian militants have fired more than 150 rockets into Israel, some reaching the cities of Ashdod and Be’er Sheva. Schools in southern Israel were closed for a second day as families crowded into bomb shelters in response to sirens. Buildings and cars were damaged, and residents treated for shock and minor injuries.
